Success Story: From Grant Recipient to Tech Innovator
Kolade's story is one of transformation and hope. Just three years ago, this young adult from an underdeveloped community in Lagos had no formal technology training and limited employment prospects. Today, he's a software developer and entrepreneur, building digital solutions that benefit his entire community.
The Beginning
"I was struggling to find meaningful work," Kolade shares. "I knew technology was important, but I couldn't afford training. When I heard about ELMA's ICT grant program, I applied without hesitation."
The Journey
Through ELMA's grant program, Kolade received comprehensive training in web development. Beyond technical skills, he gained confidence, mentorship, and connections to the tech industry. His trainers believed in his potential even when he doubted himself.
Making an Impact
Today, Kolade has launched his own tech startup that provides affordable digital solutions to small businesses in his community. He's hired three other young adults from his neighborhood, creating employment opportunities for them. He also volunteers with ELMA, mentoring other young people pursuing tech careers.
The Ripple Effect
"ELMA didn't just change my life," Kolade says. "It opened possibilities for my entire community. I want others to experience what I did—the opportunity to develop their talents and build a better future."
Kolade's story shows the power of investment in young adults. When we provide education, training, and support, we unlock potential that benefits not just individuals, but entire communities.
